Tesla Launching a New Three Row Model YL in China

Tesla to launch 6-seat Model Y L in China this fall. There are 700,000 6-seat cars sold each year with prices over 300000 RMB. A 20% share of this would be 140,000. Global sales could be double those levels.

The Model Y L is larger than the 5-seat Model Y and is equipped with dual motors and LG batteries. Tesla will launch 6-seat Model Y L in China this fall.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a new regulatory catalog today for public comment, with the Model Y L included, indicating it is a six-seat model.

The vehicle measures 4,976 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. For comparison, the updated five-seat Model Y launched in China on January 10 measures 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.
