This is a big year for Tesla’s SUVs and pickup truck. All receive notable changes for 2026. The Model Y gets a significant rework, while the aging Model X gets a few fresh details. Meanwhile, a new entry-level Cybertruck variant is introduced. Beyond the new hardware going into 2026, expect Tesla to continue providing over-the-air software updates to all its vehicles.
2026 Tesla Model Y
Just like it did with the Model 3’s Highland update for 2024, Tesla applies significant changes to the Model Y for 2026. The so-called Juniper version of the Model Y is immediately distinguishable by its new Cybertruck-inspired LED bar headlight and taillights. Those lights are embedded in new bumpers, and a few body panels are changed to fit.
Inside, the layout is familiar, but almost everything else is revised. Materials are more premium, and it feels better made. Ventilation is added to the reprofiled front seats. The steering wheel gets a different shape and new embedded buttons. Improved speakers, multicolor ambient lighting, and a second-row touchscreen add to the techy vibe. Supposedly, Tesla worked to make the glass roof reflect light better, but it still lets lots of heat in.
Significant changes happen under the skin. Although the high-voltage battery system is unchanged, the motors, suspension, steering, and braking are updated. The result is a Model Y that’s quicker, smoother, quieter, and more refined than before—but even with all these changes, it’s still much the same Model Y.

2026 Tesla Model X
Now about a decade old, the Model X has plenty of competition, and the updates applied for 2026 don’t do much to modernize the aging fundamentals. Light Frost Blue is a new paint option, and new 20- and 22-inch wheel designs are introduced. A camera is integrated into the front bumper, providing another exterior view.
New color-adjustable ambient lighting strips decorate the cabin. Alterations to the front seats are aimed at improving comfort. Quietness is also said to have been improved through hardware and software adjustments.
Chassis updates for 2026 should help the Model X feel a bit more refined as it prepares for another few years on sale.

2026 Tesla Cybertruck
This year, a new entry-level variant joins the Cybertruck range. The 2026 Cybertruck Long Range has a single rear motor that extends range up to 362 miles when the optional soft tonneau cover is installed.
Keen readers will know that other Cybertrucks have an integrated powered hard tonneau—that’s just one of the many features the Cybertruck Long Range lacks.
Think cloth seats, fewer speakers, and no rear touchscreen. Its wheels are smaller, and there’s no air suspension. Power outlets, lights, and other utility features are removed from the bed. Still, the new Long Range model has the same infamous stainless steel body as any other Cybertruck.
